Summer worship services begin at 10 AM.  There is no Sunday School.  When weather permits, worship services will be held outdoors.  This is the last month for outdoor worship and 10 AM worhsip services.

Sharing of Joys & Concerns

For many, the sharing of joys and concerns in our worship service is the most significant part of our service.  This is a time to lift up prayer requests.  If you have a message for the congregation that is not a prayer request please voice it during the announcement period at the beginning of the service.

The Bible on Mp3

If it's easier for you to listen to the Bible than to read it, here's a resource to help you.  Use the following links to get to websites where you can download audio files to hear the entire Bible, read in the NIV version.  And it's free!

Prayer Offering

Each month during the prayer offering you have an opportunity to make a prayer request.  The prayer basket will be passed through the sanctuary during the offering portion of our service so that requests can be put into the basket.  This basket will be available after worship service at the back of the church so that you may take out a request if you would like to pray for someone during the month.  The prayer request can be anonymous if you would like.

Mission Endowment Fund

Several years ago the session began a Mission Endowment Fund, the purpose of which is to fund special mission ventures from the interest generated on the principal of the account.  Until the account is fully funded at $100K, of which we are at 25% funded, no money will be used. Thanks to those who have donated generously.  For more info on the fund speak with Peter deV. or any session member.

Garage Give-Away

Help PRISM help incoming international students furnish and settle into their new homes by donating usable household items.  Please bring these items to the church by August 15th.  A list of suggested items can be found in the church lobby.  Donations can be placed in the fellowship hall coat closet.

Mid-Week Worship Services

Old Union Church is planning a new worship service to be held on Wednesday evenings, 6:30-7:15 PM, starting September 8th. This will be an informal, participatory time for singing, prayer, self-offering and reflection on how to deepen our relationship with God.

Thank You

Old Union thanks everyone involved in making Vacation Bible School a success.  Special thanks to Lorene W.

Help Wanted...

Become the editor of the State of the Union.  Judy would like to 'retire' and will gladly train someone.  Please speak to her if you are interested.

Steps

A set of steps will be installed outside the side entrance of the fellowship hall (by the water fountain)hopefully by winter. You can help by making a donation in your offering envelope and marking 'steps' and the amount given.

Did you know...

  • You can display an Old Union worship sign in your yard.  Pick one up in the lobby and help spread the word about Old Union (cost $9).
  • Old Union has set a goal to make 200 invitations to people to attend worship with us.  If you make an invitation, even if the person doesn't come, please let us know as your invitation counts towards our goal.
  • The Montana Mission Trip to Ft. Peck Indian Reservation was a success.  The group will make a presentation on September 12th so plan to join us.

Prayers of Care and Concern

Please pray for the following:

Andrew S., Chelsea C., Dorothy M., Josh H., the Gulf Coast, those affected by recent flooding, the homeless, the hungry, the food cupboards, those in mourning, the lonely, those engulfed in war, our men & women in the military, our country, our church, and our Presbytery.
